Southern Biscuits

I love biscuits and I’ve been posting about them a lot lately. My 4 year old is very into cooking lately and biscuits have become a weekly staple in our house. I’ve passed this recipe along to several friends. Below is my “ol’ trusty” biscuit recipe. Baked best in a cast iron skillet.

**Tip: I keep my sticks of butter in the freezer and I use a cheese grater to grate the stick of butter into the dough.

Buttermilk Biscuits Recipe

2 1/3 cups all purpose flour

1 tablespoon of sugar

1 stick of frozen butter (grated)

1 1/3 cups buttermilk

1 teaspoon salt

2 teaspoons baking powder

Use an extra cup of flour to dust and shape into 6 – 7 biscuits in a cast iron skillet. I call this “patting” the biscuits out because that is how my grandmother did it.

Bake at 425 degrees for 25-30 min.
